Weather Forecast for 2024 Early Monsoon Season

Early Monsoon Period

The early monsoon period is establishment of Southwest Monsoon over Myanmar to the end of June.

Onset of Southwest Monsoon

          Southwest monsoon is likely to set in:

  1. Southern Myanmar  Areas during (21st – 26th of May)
  2. Deltaic Areas during (27th  of May – 2nd of June)
  3. Central Myanmar Areas during (3rd – 8th of June)
  4. Northern Myanmar Areas during (9th  – 14th of June)

Bay of Bengal Condition

Two Low Pressure Areas may form over the Bay of Bengal and one may further intensify into the Depression. During the early monsoon period, monsoon will be weak to moderate.

Rain Condition

Rain will be expected  below normal in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States and about normal in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State.
