Tropical Depression over the middle South China Sea (No.02/2020)

Issued at (14:00) hours M.S.T on 07- 10-2020

According to the observations at (13:30) hrs MST today, the tropical depression over the middle South China Sea is centered at about (130) miles Southeast of Nha Trang (Vietnam). It is expected to reach the southern coast of Vietnam on tonight. It will continuously move to westward and then it will cross Cambodia and reach the Gulf of Thailand at (8.10.2020) and thereafter are likely cross Thailand and southern Myanmar ares as a low pressure area at nighttime. It is expected to reach the Andaman Sea at (9.10.2020).

General Caution

Due to the tropical deperssion, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls and isolated heavy falls. Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon –Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (9-11) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon –Taninthayi Coasts during (8.10.2020) to (11.10.2020).

Advisory

Due to the tropical Deperssion, people should be aware heavy rainfall with strong wind, flash flood and landslide near the hilly areas and also small rivers.
