SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain have been widespread in Naypitaw and Southern Shan State, scattered in Mandalay Region, (Northern and Eastern) Shan and Kayah States, isolated in Magway, Bago and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin and Rakhine States and weather has been partly cloudy to cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Night temperatures were about January average temperatures in Upper Sagaing and Taninthayi Regions, (7°C) to (8°C) above January average temperatures in Shan, Rakhine and Kayah States, (5°C) to (6°C) above January average temperatures in Mandalay and Bago Regions, Kayin and Mon States and (3°C) to (4°C) above January average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant night temperatures were (5°C) in Hakha and (6°C) in Putao. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Pinlaung (1.14)inches, Tatkon (0.75)inch, Naypyitaw (Zabuthiri) (0.71)inch, Namsam (0.63)inch, Naypyitaw(Yezin) and Thandwe (0.59)inch each, Loilin and Pyinmana (0.51) inch each and Pyay (0.39)inch.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal still persists. It is forecast to further intensify into a depression during next (24)hrs. Weather is generally fair over the North Bay and West Central Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 4th January, 2017: Rain will be fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay and Bago Regions, Shan and Kayah States, scattered in Lower Sagaing, Magway, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine States, isolated in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (80%). Weather will be partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States.

STATE OF THE SEA:  Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon - Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Seas will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of isolated to scattered rain in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Shan and Rakhine States.
