SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy to cloudy in Kachin, Northern Shan and Mon States, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Ayeyarwady Region, fairly widespread in Rakhine State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Taninthayi Regions, Chin and Kayah States, isolated in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Mandalay Region. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Wundwin (3.38)inches, Kawthong (2.68)inches, Hainggyikyun (1.77)inches, Yamethin (1.65)inches, Taunggu (1.65)inches, Thandwe (1.14)inches, Tatkon and Manaung (1.10)inches each.
BAY INFERENCE: Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and partly cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
SPECIAL FEATURES: According to the observations at (12:30)hrs MST today, Typhoon “ SARIKA” has crossed Hainan, China. It is forecast to move Northwestwards.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 19th October, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be firely widespread in Taninthayi Region and Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States, scattered in Magway and Ayeyarwady Regions and Chin State and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is (80%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be moderate in Myanmar waters.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of rain or thundershowers in Magway Region, Chin and Rakhine States.
