SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershower have been scattered in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Shan (Northern and Southern) States, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachine State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, isolated heavy falls in Mon State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Central Yangon (3.94)inches, Kangyangon (3.86)inches, Pathein (3.74)inches, Phyarpon (3.35)inches, Nyaungtone (3.27)inches, Kyeikmayaw (3.26)inches, Khayan (3.03)inches, Yay (2.91)inches, Maubin (2.72)inches, Pinlebu (2.56)inches, Shwegyin and Thaton (2.40)inches each, Yangon(North Dagon) and Hpa-an (2.36)inches each, Yangon(Mingaladon) (2.29)inches, Gwa and Kyeikkhame (2.24)inches each, Hmawbi (2.09)inches, Chaungsone (2.05)inches, Putao and Belin (2.00)inches each.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the ovservations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, a low pressure area has formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal. It may further intensify into a depression during next (24)hours. Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 9th August, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing Region, Shan and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Mandalay and Magway Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Chin, Rakhine and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Moderate to strong monsoon.
