23-12-2024: According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Westcentral Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move West-Southwestwards and reach to Southwest Bay of Bengal(North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coasts)India during 24-12-2024. Weather is a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea and North Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershower have been scattered in Lower Sagaing, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, Eastern Shan, Chin and Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Mon State, isolated heavy falls in Lower Sagaing, Magway, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Luanglone (5.39) inches, Yay (4.96)inches, Chaungsone (4.09)inches, Thandwe (3.97)inches, Kyeikkhame (3.82)inches, Paung (3.27)inches, Labutta and Mudon (3.15)inches each, Loilin (2.99)inches, Sittwe, Tharrawady and Dawei (2.60)inches each, Nyaunglaybin (2.52)inches, Putao and Thaton (2.48)inches each, Maungdaw (2.44)inches, Mawlamyine (2.40)inches, Katha and Yangon(Mingaladon) (2.16)inches each, Hainggyi Kyun (2.13)inches, Zalun (2.09) inches, Hlaingbwe and Kyeikmayaw (2.05)inches each, Chauk (2.01)inches, Bhamo (1.97)inches, Ngathaichaung (1.77)inches, Taungkok (1.73)inches and Yeu (1.69)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (11:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over Northwest Bay of  Bengal had moved to inland area of  India. Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 6th August, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Chin and Kayah States, and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Upper Sagaing Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h. Seas will be moderate to rough elsewhere in Myanmar waters.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin and Shan States.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 6th August, 2016: One or two rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is (100%).
