30-11-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL” over the Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved Westwards. It is centered at about 765 Nautical miles West of Coco Island (Myanmar), 45 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Chennai and 40 Nautical miles East-Northeast of Puducherry (India). The centre pressure of Cyclonic Storm is 994 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 50 miles per hour. Weather is cloudy over the Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Mandalay and Magway Regions, fairly widespread in (Northern and Southern) Shan and Mon States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Rakhine State and isolated heavy falls in Kachin State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Thandwe (5.47)inches, Myitkyina (3.15)inches, Manaung (3.07)inches, Taunggu (2.99)inches, Hainggyikyun (2.76)inches, Phyarpon (2.52)inches, Taungkok (2.44)inches, Hkamti (2.33)inches, Tamu (2.20)inches, Homalin and Yangon(Kaba-aye) (1.97)inches each.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is weak over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 17th July, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Lower Sagaing Region, scattered in Mandalay and Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, (Eastern and Southern)Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin and Rakhine States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be slight to moderate in Myanmar waters.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of decrease of rain in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States.
