SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Eastern Shan and Kayah States, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Mon State, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing and Yangon Regions, Kayin State, scattered in Bago Region and Southern Shan State, isolated in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavy falls in Taninthayi Region. Day temperatures were (3°C) above May average temperature in Lower Sagaing Region, (3°C) below May average temperature in Chin State and about May average temperature in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were (40°C) each in Monywa, Myingyan, Nyaung Oo, Chauk and Bawlakhae, (39°C) each in Yeu, Mandalay and Kyaukse. The observed highest Ultra Violet indexes were Naypyitaw (9.6), Yangon (9.0) and Mandalay (10.0). The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Launglone (4.25)inches, Myeik (2.64)inches, Dawei (2.36)inches, Kawthong (2.28)inches, Nyaungtone (1.93)inches, Kyeikkhame (1.85)inches, Yangon (North Dagon) (1.50)inches, Moekok (1.46)inches, Myaungmya and Chaungsone (1.34)inches each.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is vigorous over the Andaman sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 29th May, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Taninthayi Region and Mon State, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin, Chin and Kayin States, scattered in  Shan (East and South) State and isolated in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Taninthayi Region and Mon State. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA:  Squalls with moderate to rough sea are likely at time Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off  and along Mon - Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Moderate to strong monsoon over the Andaman sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal.
