27-11-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards. It is centered at about 730 Nautical miles West-Southwest of CoCo Island (Myanmar), 270 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Chennai (India). The centre pressure of Deep Depression is 1001 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 35 miles per hour.Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay of Bengal and cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Yagon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States, fairly widespread in Bago Region, scattered in Nay Pyi Taw, Magway Region and Rakhine State and isolated in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Kawthoung (4.49)inches, Myeik (4.41)inches, Launglon (3.94)inches, Shwegyin and Madauk (2.76)inches each and Hainggyi Island (2.60)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is weak in the North Bay and moderate to strong in the Andaman Sea and elsewhere in the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 18th September, 2015: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin and Mon States, fairly widespread in Rakhine and Kayah States, scattered in Nay Pyi Taw and Magway Region and isolated in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region and isolated heavy falls in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough sea are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon – Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar areas.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of thundery activities in the Central Myanmar areas.
