29-11-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Deep Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards and has intensified into a Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL”. It is centered at about 680 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Coco Island (Myanmar), 160 Nautical miles Southeast of Chennai and 150 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Puducherry (India). Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea.

Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm

            According to the observations at (22:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI" over the Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal has moved  North-Northwestwards and intensified into a Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI". It is centered at about (260)miles East-Northeast of Chennai(India), (270)miles Southeast of Machilipatnam and (275)miles South-Southeast of Vishakhapatnam. It is forecast to move Northwestwards.

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm is coded yellow stage.

            Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI" is located at Latitude (13.3) degree North and Longitude (84.7) degree East, centre pressure of Very Severe Cyclonic Storm is (964)hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (100)miles per hour at (22:30) hrs MST today.

During next (36)hrs forecast

            It is forecast to move Northwestwards and then recurve North-Northeastwards to ODISHA Coast during next (36)hours.

General caution

Under the influence of the Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI", rain will be scattered to fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Magway, Bago, Yangon,  Ayeyarwady and Thaintharyi Regions, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States with isolated heavy falls in some areas within next (72)hours commencing tonight.

            Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40-45)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (10-13) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

            Under the influence of the Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI", people should be awared domastic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
