SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Mandalay, Magway and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine and Kayah States, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing Region, scattered in Northern Shan State, fairly widespread in Bago and Yangon Regions, Southern Shan, Chin and Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Naypyitaw and isolated heavy falls in Mon State. Day temperatures were (5°C) below May average temperature in Taninthayi Region and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were (42°C) in Chauk, (41°C) in Bawlakhae and (40°C) each in Nyaung Oo, Yamethin, Minbu, Magway, Aunglan and Tharrawady. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were Naypyitaw (Zayarthiri) (3.82)inches, Pyinmana (3.78) inches, Paung (3.07)inches, Naypyitaw Airport (Ela) (3.03)inches, Mawlamyine (1.97)inches, Naypyitaw (Zabuthiri) (1.89)inches, Yay (1.85)inches, Kyeikkhame (1.77)inches, Laiway and Naypyitaw (Otarathiri) (1.65)inches each.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs MST today, the low pressure area over the Gulf of Mottama still persists. It is forecast to move Inland during next (6) hours. Weather is cloudy over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and partly cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 03rd MAY, 2018: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Magway Region and Rakhine State, scattered in Lower Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin, Northern Shan and Chin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Mon State and isolated heavy falls in Bago Region and Kayin State. Degree of certainty is (80%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8 - 10)feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (4 - 6)feet along Rakhine Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of continuation of rain or thundershowers in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States.
