8-9-2024:: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over Westcentral Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards. It is centered at about 370 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Sittwe, 440 Nautical miles West  of  Thandwe (Myanmar), 145 Nautical miles East of Kalingapatnam(India), 105 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Gopalpur, 100 Nautical miles South of Paradip and 190 Nautical miles South-Southwest of Digha. Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayah State, scattered in Magway Region, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Rakhine, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing Region. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 4.49 inches in Kyeikkhame, 4.02 inches in Kyaukphyu, 3.94 inches in Tamu, 3.19 inches in Ye, 3.03 inches in Sittwe, 2.44 inches in Thaton, 2.36 inches in Hpa-an, 2.25 inches in Manaung, 2.17 inches each in Gwa and Ann and 2.02 inches in Kya-In-Seikkyi.

BAY INFERENCE:  Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SPECIAL FEACTURES: According to the observations at (12:30)hrs MST today, the severe tropical storm “Prapiroon” has crossed Hainan Island, China and reached to Gulf of Tonkin. It is likely continuing to move Northwestwards and may cross over Southern China.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 23rd July 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing, Magway Regions and Kayah State, fairly widespread in Mandalay Region and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Rakhine State and isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Eastern Shan, Rakhine, Mon, Kayin States.

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 40 mph. Wave height will be about 10-13 feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph.  Wave height will be about 7-9 feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Increase of rain in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States.
