26-12-2024:According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southwest Bay of Bengal(off South Andhra Pradesh-North Tamil Nadu Coasts, India) still persists. It is likely to weaken gradually into a Low Pressure Area during next 24 hours. Weather is partly cloudy over the Westcentral and Southwest Bay of Bengal and a few cloud over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and (Southern and Eastern)Shan, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, scattered in Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kachin, Northern Shan, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States and isolated in Chin, Rakhine States with regionally heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady Region and isolated heavyfalls in Yangon Region. Weather has been partly cloudy in Sagaing Region. Day temperatures were 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States, 2°C above May average temperatures in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State and 2°C below May average temperature in Northern Shan State, 3°C to 4°C below May average temperatures in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay Regions and about May average temperature in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were observed 40.5°C in Ann, 39.9°C in Chauk, 39.5°C in Minbu, 39.4°C in Nyaunglaybin, 38.7°C in Kalewa, 38.3°C in Aunglan, 38.2°C each in Thandwe and Pyay and 38.1°C in Magway on 21-5-2024. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 3.78 inches in Ngathaichaung, 3.35 inches in Pathein, 3.22 inches in Pantanaw, 3.15 inches in Kyonpyaw, 3.03 inches in Hmawbi, 2.99 inches in Shwekyin, 2.95 inches in Okpho, 2.52 inches in Kungyangon, 2.36 inches in Danubyu and 1.93 inches each in Hinthada and Maubin.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Low Pressure Area over the Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal off north Tamil Nadu-South Andhra Pradesh coasts, India still persists. It is likely to move northeastwards and intensify into a Depression over Central Bay of Bengal around 24-5-2024. Thereafter, it may continue to move northeastwards, further intensify and reach Northeast and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal around 25-5-2024 evening. Weather is a few cloud over the North Bay and cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 23rd May 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Southern Shan, Kayin, Mon States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Eastern Shan, Kayah States, scattered in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Mon State and isolated heavyfalls in Bago, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin State. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasionally squall with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 40 mph. Squall with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 30-35 mph. Wave height will be about 9-12 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast and 7-9 feet in off and along Rakhine Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of regionally and isolated heavyfalls in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States.
