SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing and Magway Regions, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Northern Shan and Chin States, scattered in Mandalay and Bago Regions, Kachin and Rakhine States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing and Yangon Regions, Eastern Shan and Kayin States and widespread in Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Southern Shan, Kayah and Mon States with isolated heavy falls in Yangon Region. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Coco Island (3.62)inches, Tamu (2.36)inches, Ann (1.74)inches, Mogaung and Hainggyigyun (1.61)inches each, Myeik (1.46)inches and Naypyitaw (Zayarthiri) (1.30)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30)hrs MST today, the low pressure area over the Central Bay of Bengal, it may further intensify into a depression during next (24)hrs. Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay and cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SPECIAL FEATURES: According to the observations at (12:30)hrs MST today, yesterday’s the typhoon “Khanun” over the South China Sea has reached Tokin Bay and downgraded to tropical depression. It is forecast to move West wards slowly.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 17th OCTOBER, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Lower Sagaing Region and Chin State, scattered in Magway Region, Kachin and Northern Shan States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago and Yangon Regions and Rakhine State and widespread in Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Shan (East and South), Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Yangon Region, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainly is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (6-9)feet in off and along Myanmar Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayin and Mon States.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 17th OCTOBER, 2017: One or two rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainly is (100%).
