12-11-2024:  According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over Southwest Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal off North Tamil Nadu and adjoining South Andhra Pradesh coasts (India) still persists. Weather is a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been fairly widespread in Mandalay, Yangon and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Magway and Yangon Regions, Chin, Rakhine and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Upper Sagaing, Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Maungdaw (9.53)inches, Kyaukpyu (8.98)inches, Paletwa (7.56)inches,  Kyauktaw (6.77)inches, Hakha (6.65)inches, Ann (5.90)inches, Myauk U and Myaungmya (5.43)inches each, Thandwe (5.23)inches, Mindat (4.92)inches, Taungkok (4.65)inches and Hlegu (4.29)inches.

 BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30) hrs MST today, the Cyclonic Storm “Komen”  over Northeast Bay of Bengal is centered at about (150) miles Southeast of Kolkata (India), (50) miles Southwest of Chittagong (Bangladesh), (105) miles Northwest of Maungdaw (Myanmar) and (160) miles Northwest  of Sittwe (Myanmar). Monsoon is strong to Vigorous in the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 31st July, 2015: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in the whole country with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Chin, Rakhine and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Mandalay Region and Kayin State. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Frequent squalls with rough to very rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (50 - 60) m.p.h.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of Strong monsoon.
