23-11-2024: According to the observations at (15:30) hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area has formed over East Equatorial India Ocean and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may further intensify into a depression over South Bay of Bengal around 25-11-2024. Thereafter, its likely to move Northwestwards and may reach to Tamil Nadu(India)-Sri Lanka coasts during next 2 days. Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal and a few cloud to partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Depression

According to the observations at (12:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over North Andaman Sea (off Gulf of Martaban) has intensified into a Depression. It is centered at about (15) Nautical miles Southwest of Bilu Island, (25) Nautical miles Southwest of Mawlamyine, (25) Nautical miles South- Southwest of Paung,, (45) Nautical miles South-Southwest of Thaton, Mon State, (50) Nautical miles Southeast of Thongwa, (60) Nautical miles Southeast of Thongwa, Yangon Region (Myanmar).

It may cross near Mawlamyine, Mon State, Myanmar, the present stage of the depression is coded red stage.

Position of depression, center pressure and wind

Depression is located at Latitude (16.2) degree North and Longitude (97.3) degree East, centre pressure of depression is (1002) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (32) miles per hour at (12:30)hrs MST today.

During next (6) hrs forecast

The depression is likely continuous to move Northeast wards and towards Myanmar near Mawlamyine, Mon State during next (6) hours.

General caution

Due to the depression, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls and isolated heavy falls from today afternoon to (21.5.2022). Occasionally squall with rough to very rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (45) mph. Wave height will be about (9-14) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast.

Due to the depression, people should be aware strong wind with regionally heavyfalls and isolated heavyfalls and domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.
