27-5-2024:According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “REMAL” which has crossed to Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts between Sagar Island (India) and Khepupara, close to Mongla (Bangladesh) has moved North-Northeastwards and crossing the interior of Bangladesh. Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal and strong to vigorous over the Eastcentral and Northeast Bay of Bengal. Weather is cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Depression

According to the observations at (17:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal almost stationary and it is centered at about (760) Nautical miles Southwest of Coco Island, (870) Nautical miles Southwest ofHainggyigyun(Myanmar), (60) Nautical miles East-Southeast of Trincomalee(Sri Lanka) and (215) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Karaikal(India).

It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the Depression is coded as yellow stage.

Position of Depression, center pressure and wind

            The Depression is located at Latitude (8.0) degree North and Longitude (82.0) degree East, centre pressure of Depression is (1004) hPaand maximum wind speed near the center is (30) miles per hour at (17:30)hrs MST today.

During next (12) hrs forecast

 It is likely to move Westwardsand cross Siri Lanka coasts between Batticaloa and Trincomalee around early morning of 2nd February 2023.
