Cyclonic Storm Condition

According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Severe Cyclonic Storm “REMAL” has crossed Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts (India), has  moved North-Northeastwards and weakened into a Cyclonic Storm “REMAL” and continuously  crossed to Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts between Sagar Island (India) and Khepupara, close to Mongla (Bangladesh).

During next (15) hrs forecast

The Cyclonic Storm “REMAL” is likely to continue to move North-Northeastwards and will cross interior of Bangladesh and gradually weaken into a Deep Depression during next (9) hours and a Depression during next (15) hours.

General caution

Under the influence of Cyclonic Storm “REMAL”, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Chin, Rakhine States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Chin, Rakhine States and isolated heavyfalls in Sagaing, Magway Regions and Kachin State along with strong winds during next (24) hours. Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced in Deltic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 40 mph and wave height will be about 9-13 feet.

Under the influence of Cyclonic Storm “REMAL”, people should be awared heavy rain with strong wind, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and also domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
