Depression

According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal(off Andhra Pradesh coast)has moved East-Northeastwards and  now lies over Westcentral Bay of Bengal. It is centered at about 520 Nautical miles West of Coco Island (Myanmar), 235 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Visakhapatnam(India). The centre pressure of Depression is (1003) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (30-35) miles per hour.

It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the Depression is coded as yellow stage.

Forecast

It is likely to move slowly East-Northeastwards during next 12 hours and weaken gradually over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal.

Due to the Depression, rain or thundershowers are likely to be isolated in Naypyidaw, Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayah State, scattered in Mandalay, Magway Regions and Rakhine, Shan States and scattered to fairly widespread in Sagaing Region and Kachin, Chin States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls today afternoon upto 23-12-2024.

Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35) m.p.h and wave height will be about (7-9) feet off and along Rakhine Coast.

Advisory

 People should be awared the natural disasters such as the heavy rainfall with strong wind, thunder, Lightning strike, lightning, hails, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and inland water transport and domestic flight.
