Deep Depression
According to the observations at (16:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over the North Bay of Bengal has moved Northwest wards and intensified into a Deep Depression. It is centered at about (220) Nautical miles West of Maungdaw, (255) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Sittwe (Myanmar), (90) Nautical miles East- Southeast of Balasore, (60) Nautical miles East-Southeast of Digha, (35) Nautical miles Southeast of Sagar Island (India).
It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Deep Depression is coded yellow stage.
Position of deep depression, center pressure and wind
The deep depression is located at Latitude (21.3) degree North and Longitude (88.5) degree East, centre pressure of depression is (992) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (40) miles per hour at (16:30)hrs MST today.
During next (12) hrs forecast
The deep depression is likely continuous to move West-Northwestwards and corss to West Bengal and Odisha coast between Balasore and Sagar Islands (India) during next (12) hrs.
General caution
Due to the deep depression, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Chin, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls and strong wind from tonight to (20.8.2022). Occasionally squall with rough seas will be experienced in Gulf of Mottama, Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (40) mph. Wave height will be about (9-13) feet in Gulf of Mottama, Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast.

People should be awared the heavy rainfall with strong wind, the natural disasters such as flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and inland water transport and domestic flight.
