26-5-2024: According to the observations at (21:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Severe Cyclonic Storm “REMAL” over North Bay of Bengal has continued to move nearly Northwards and centered at about (180) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Maungdaw, (220) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Sittwe,(Myanmar), (65) Nautical miles Southwest of Khepupara, (70) Nautical miles South- Southwest of Mongla, (Bangladesh), (65) Nautical miles East-Southeast of Sagar Island, (95) Nautical miles East-Southeast of Digha and (65) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Canning (West Bangal, India). Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and strong to vigorous over the Eastcentral Bay. Weather is cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

According to the observations at (11:30)hrs M.S.T today, thewell marked low pressure areahas movedRakhine State near Thandwe and it is continuous to move North-Northeastwards.

            It is continuous to moveNorth-Northeastwards near Mindon, Magway Region, the present stage of the well marked low pressure area is coded brown stage.

During next (12) hrs forecast

            The well marked low pressure area is likely continuous to move North-Northeastwards and it is forecast to weaken gradually into a low pressure area.

General caution

  1. Due to the well marked low pressure area, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States with regionally and isolated heavy falls in some Regions and States duringtoday noon  to (24.3.2022).
  2. Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (8-12) feet inDeltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast.
  3. During the well marked low pressure areais continuous moving to Magway Regionnear Mindon, maximum wind speedmay reach (20-25) mph in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Shan, Rakhine States.

Advisory                                                               

Due to the well marked low pressure area, people should be aware rain or thundershowers with strong wind, lightning, flash floods in small streams and mountain streams and landslides in the mountainous areas and domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast.
