29-11-2024: BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (05:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Deep Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved Northwards. It is centered at about 665 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Coco Island(Myanmar), 230 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Chennai(India). Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and over the Bay of Bengal.

Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “YAAS”

            According to the observations at (03:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “YAAS” over the Northwest Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards and centered at about (440) Nautical miles Northwest of Pathein, about (280) Nautical miles Southwest of Sittwe (Myanmar), about (65) Nautical miles East-Southeast of Dhamra and about (110) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Balasore (India).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm“YAAS” is coded yellow stage.

           The Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “YAAS” is located at Latitude (20.1) degree North and Longitude (87.8) degree East, centre pressure of Very Severe Cyclonic Storm is (974) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (85) miles per hour at (03:30) hrs MST today.

During next (12) hrs Forecast

            The Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “YAAS” is likely to move North-Northwestwards and forecast to cross North Odisha Coast near Dhamra and Balasore during next (12)hrs.

General caution

Due to the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “YAAS”, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine States with isolated heavy falls in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine State during next (48)hrs commencing today morning.

Occasional squalls with very rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40-45)m.p.h. Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (13 -17)feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast and about (9-13)feet in Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.
