24-11-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the well marked low pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean still persists. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may further intensify into a depression over South Bay of Bengal around 25-11-2024. Thereafter, it is likely continue to move Northwestwards and may reach to Tamil Nadu (India)-Sri Lanka coasts during next 2 days. Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea, South Bay and Westcentral Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Severe Cyclonic Storm “Asani”

 

According to the observations at (21:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “Asani” over Southeast Bay of Bengal has moved Northwestwards and intensified into a Severe Cyclonic Storm “Asani” which now lies over Southeast Bay and adjoining East Central Bay of Bangal. It is centered at about (295) Nautical miles West of Port Blair, (410) Nautical miles Southeast of Vishakhapatnam, (455) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Puri(India), (340) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Coco-Island and (440) Nautical miles Southwest of Hainggyigyun (Myanmar).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Severe Cyclonic Storm “Asani” is coded yellow stage.

            The Severe Cyclonic Storm “Asani” is located at Latitude (12.5) degree North and Longitude (87.8) degree East, centre pressure of Severe Cyclonic Storm “Asani” is (994) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (60-65) miles per hour at (21:30)hrs MST today.

 

During next (72) hrs forecast

The Severe Cyclonic Storm “Asani” is forecast continuous to move Northwestwards and reach to West Central Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal (off north Andhra­ Pradesh-Odisha coasts, India) around (10.5.2022) and recurve to North-Northeastwards and reach to Northwest Bay of Bengal (off  Odisha coast, India). 

 

General caution

Due to the Severe Cyclonic Storm “Asani”, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States and scattered in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally and isolated heavyfalls in some Regions and States from tonight to (12.5.2022). Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (8-12) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

Due to the Severe Cyclonic Storm “Asani”, people should be aware rain or thundershowers with strong wind and domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships in off and along Myanmar Coasts.
