24-11-2024: According to the observations at (15:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked low pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial India Ocean still persists. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may further intensify into a depression over South Bay of Bengal around 25-11-2024. Thereafter, it is likely continue to move Northwestwards and may reach to Tamil Nadu (India)-Sri Lanka coasts during next 2 days. Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea, South Bay and Westcentral Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Severe Cyclonic Storm “Asani”

According to the observations at (10:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Severe Cyclonic Storm “Asani” over West Central Bay and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bangal has moved Northwestwards and now lies over West Central Bay and adjoining South Bay of Bangal. It iscentered at about (415) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Port Blair, (275) Nautical miles Southeast of Vishakhapatnam, (350) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Puri (India), (425) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Coco-Island and (500) Nautical miles Southwest of Hainggyigyun (Myanmar).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Severe Cyclonic Storm “Asani” is coded yellow stage.

            The Severe Cyclonic Storm “Asani” is located at Latitude (14.0) degree North and Longitude (86.1) degree East, centre pressure of Severe Cyclonic Storm “Asani” is (989) hPaand maximum wind speed near the center is (65-70) miles per hour at (10:30)hrs MST today.

During next (72) hrs forecast

The Severe Cyclonic Storm “Asani” is forecast continuous to move Northwestwards and reach to West Central Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal (off north Andhra­Pradesh-Odisha coasts, India) around (10.5.2022) and recurve to North-Northeastwards and reach to Northwest Bay of Bengal (off Odisha coast, India). It is likely to weaken gradually into a Cyclonic Storm “Asani”during next (48)hrs.

General caution

Due to the Severe Cyclonic Storm “Asani”, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, TaninthayiRegions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States with likelihood of regionally and isolated heavyfalls in some Regions and States from today morning to (13.5.2022).Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along MyanmarCoasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (8-12) feet off and along MyanmarCoasts.
