SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Naypyitaw and Kayah State, scattered in Mandalay, Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing Region and (Northern and Eastern)Shan, Chin, Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady Region and isolated heavyfalls in Kachin State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (3.46) inches in Zalun, (3.07) inches in Phyarpon, (3.03) inches in Mogaung, (2.87) inches in Thandwe, (2.79) inches in Ingabu, (2.56) inches in Momate (Myitsone), (2.48) inches in Tharrawady, (2.32) inches in Kyaunggon, (2.24) inches in Ngathaichaung, (2.20) inches in Monyin and (2.17) inches in Myaungmya.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal has moved West-Northwestwards and now lies over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal- North Odisha Coasts(India) still persists. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and cross North Odisha and North Chhattisgarth during next (36)hrs. Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate to strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 19th August, 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kayah State, fairly widespread in Northern Shan, Chin, Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady Region and Rakhine State. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squall with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (30-35) mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar Waters. Wave height will be about (7-9) feet in  Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts and (5-7)feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Weak to moderate monsoon.
