9-1-2026: According to the observations at 17:30 hrs MST today, the Deep Depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved Northwestwards. It is centered at about 835 Nautical miles Southwest of Coco-Island (Myanmar), 115 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka) and 340 Nautical miles Southeast of Puducherry(Sri Lanka). It is likely to move Northwestwards and may cross North Sri Lanka coast between Trincomalee and Jaffna during next 18 hours.Weather is a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea, North Bay and Eastcentral Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region and Northern Shan State, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Naypyitaw, Mandalay and Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing, Yangon and Taninthayi Regions and widespread in Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin, Shan(South& East), Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with isolated heavy falls in Kachin and Kayin States. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Machanbaw (6.06)inches, Hlaingbwe (4.76)inches, Thaton and Labutta (2.48)inches each, Myitkyina and Ann (2.05)inches each, Maungdaw (1.78)inches and Kyauktaw and Belin (1.73)inches each.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

STATE OF THE SEA:  Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon -Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Seas will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.Wave height will be about (7 - 9)feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon - Taninthayi Coast and (5 - 7)feet in along Rakhine Coast.
