Cyclonic Storm

According to the observations at (00:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “SITRANG” over North Bay of Bengalhas moved North-Northeastwards and crossing Bangladesh Coasts between Tincona Island and Sandwip Island.

During next (18) hrs forecast

It is forecast decrease into a Deep Depression during next (12)hrs and into a Land Depressionduring next (18) hours.

General caution

Due to Cyclonic Storm “SITRANG”, likelihood of fairly widespread to widespread rain or thundershowers in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Chin, Rakhine States with regionally and isolated heavyfalls in some Regions and States from today morning  to (26.10.2022).

Frequently squall with rough to very rough seas will be experienced in off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (60-65) mph. Squall with rough seas are likely at timesin Gulf of Deltaic, Mottama, off and along Mon-TaninthayiCoasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (35-40) mph.Wave height will be about (14-18) feet in off and along Rakhine Coastand (9-11) feet in Gulf of Deltaic, Mottama, off and along Mon-TaninthayiCoasts.

Rakhine Coast, Myanmar which is located on the right-hand side of the Cyclonic Storm’s path, maximum wind speed may reach (35-45) mph in Chin, Rakhine States and maximum wind speed may reach (20-25) mph in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions.

Advisory

Under the influence of the Cyclonic Storm “SITRANG”, people should be awared of strong wind, heavy rain, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and also domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
