Deep Depression

According to the observations at (17:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Deep Depression overWestcentral Bay and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengalhas moved Northwestwards and centered at about (370) Nautical miles West ofHainggyigyun, (390) Nautical miles Southwest of Thandwe, (365) Nautical miles Southwest of Sittwe (Myanmar), (300) Nautical miles South of Sagar Island (India) and (390) Nautical miles South-Southwest of Barisal(Bangladesh).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Deep Depression is coded yellow stage.

Position of Deep Depression, center pressure and wind

            The Deep Depression is located at Latitude (16.5) degree North and Longitude (87.8) degree East, centre pressure of Deep Depression is (1002) hPaand maximum wind speed near the center is (40) miles per hour at (17:30)hrs MST today.

During next (48) hrs forecast

 It is likely to move Northwestwards and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over Central Bay of Bengal during next (6)hrs and then recurve to North-Northeastwards and will cross Bangladesh Coasts between Tincona Island and Sandwip Island around (25.10.2022).

General caution

Due to the Deep Depression, likelihood of fairly widespread to widespread rain or thundershowers in Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Yangon, AyeyarwadyRegions and Kachin, Chin, Rakhine States with regionally and isolated heavyfalls in some Regions and States from tonight to (26.10.2022). Frequently squall with rough to very rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along RakhineCoasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (55-60) mph. Squall with rough seas are likely at timesin Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-TaninthayiCoasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (35-40) mph.Wave height will be about (13-16) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coastand (9-11) feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-TaninthayiCoasts.

Under the influence of the deep depression, people should be awared of strong wind, heavy rain, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and also domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
