11-12-2024: According to the observations at (15:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Preassure Area over Southwest Bay of Bengal(off Sri Lanka Coast) still persists. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may reach over Sri Lanka - Tamil Nadu Coasts, India, during next 12 hrs. Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea, Westcentral and Southwest Bay of Bengal and a few cloud to partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Bay of Bengal Condition

Southwest monsoon is likely to set in Southern Myanmar Areas during (8-13) of May, Deltaic Areas during (14-20) of May, Central Myanmar Areas during (21-26) of May and the whole country during (27 May – 4 June). Two Low Pressure Areas may form over the Bay of Bengal and one may further intensify into a Depression.  During this monsoon period, monsoon will be moderate. Weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy in the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy elsewhere in the Bay of Bengal.

Rain Conditions and Rainy Days

Rain or thundershower will be expected above normal in West Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayah State and about normal in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, East Bago, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States.

Rainy days will be expected 17 to 22 days in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States, 11 to 16 days in Upper Sagaing, East Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Kayah, Rakhine States and 5 to 10 days in Nay Pyi Taw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, West Bago Regions.

Day temperature will be (1.5 °C) about normal of May average maximum temperature  in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Tanintharyi Regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States.
