SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, light rain has been isolated in Taninthayi Region, weather has been partly cloudy to cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Night temperatures were (3°C) below January average temperatures in Kachin and Northern Shan States, (5°C) above January average temperature in Mon State and (3°C) to (4°C) above January average temperatures in Bago and Yangon Regions, Kayin State and about January average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant night temperatures were (0°C) in Hakha, (2°C) in Putao, (4°C) each in Thipaw, Heho and Moekok, (5°C) each in Lashio, Namsam, Pinlaung and Kyaukmae. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded was Kawthong (0.04)inch.
BAY INFERENCE: Weather is generally fair over the North Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 22nd January, 2017: Light rain are likely to be isolated in Taninthayi Region. Degree of certainty is (60%). Weather will be partly cloudy in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Mon and Kayin States and generally fair in the remaining Regions and States.
STATE OF THE SEA: Strong easterly winds with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Mon – Taninthayi Coasts. Surface winds speed in easterly winds may reach (35)m.p.h. Seas will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of slight decrease of night temperatures in Shan State.
