SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain has been widespread in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States, isolated in Yangon Region, Eastern Shan and Kayah States and weather has been partly cloudy in Upper Sagaing, Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin and Shan (North and South) States and generally fair in the remaining Regions and States. Night temperatures were (7°C) to (8°C) above January average temperatures in Eastern Shan and Kayah States, (5°C) to (6°C) above January average temperatures in Bago and Yangon Regions, Southern Shan, Kayin and Mon States and (3°C) above January average temperatures in Ayeyarwady Region and about January average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant night temperatures were (0°C) in Hakha, (5°C) in Tiddim and (6°C) each in Naungcho and Moekok. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Paung (2.32)inches, Hpa-an (1.81)inches, Paing Kyone (1.18)inches, Thaton (0.91)inch, Mawlamyine (0.87)inch, Myawady (0.83)inch and Myeik (0.75)inch.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Taninthayi coast still persists. Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and generally fair elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 12th January, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States, isolated in Bago and Yangon Regions, Shan (East and South) and Kayah States. Degree of certainty is (80%). Weather will be partly cloudy in Upper Sagaing and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin and Northern Shan States and generally fair in the remaining Regions and States.
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon - Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Seas will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of continuation of rain in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States.
