23-12-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Westcentral Bay(off South Andhra Pradesh and North Tamil Nadu Coasts) still persists. It is likely to move West-Southwestwards and reach Southwest Bay of Bengal(near North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coasts, India) during 24-12-2024. Weather is a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea, North Bay and Eastern Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region, isolated in Mon State with isolated heavy falls in Taninthayi Region, weather has been partly cloudy in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayin State and generally fair in the remaining Regions and States. Night temperatures were (4°C) above January average temperatures in Kayin and Mon States and about January average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant night temperatures were (3°C) in Putao, (5°C) each in Pinlaung, Heho, Hakha and Moekok, (6°C) each in Namsam, Naungcho and Pyinoolwin. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded was Kawthong (4.13)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Taninthayi coast still persists. It is forecast to further intensify into a depression during next (48)hrs. Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and generally fair elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 10th January, 2017: Rain will be fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region, scattered in Mon State, isolated in Yangon Region and Kayin State with isolated heavy falls in Taninthayi Region. Degree of certainty is (80%). Weather will be partly cloudy in Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayah State and generally fair in the remaining Regions and States.

STATE OF THE SEA:  Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon - Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Seas will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of rain or thundershowers in Taninthayi Region and Mon State.
