SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain has been fairly widespread  in Taninthayi Region, isolated in Yangon Region, Chin and Mon States, weather has been partly cloudy in Upper Sagaing , Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions and Shan, Kayah and  Kayin States and  generally fair in the remaining Regions and States. Night temperatures were (3°C) to (4°C) above January average temperatures in  Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Eastern Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States and   about January average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant night temperature were (0°C) in Hakha, (4°C) in each  Putao, Pinlaung, Pyinoolwin and Moekok. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Kawthong (0.94) inch, Mindat and Coco Island in each (0.08) inch.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal still persists. It is forecast to further intensify into a depression during next (48)hrs. Weather is generally fair over the North Bay and West Central Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 8th January, 2017: Rain will be fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region, isolated in Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions and Mon State. Degree of certainty is (80%). Weather will be partly cloudy in Upper Sagaing, Bago Regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Kayah and kayin States and generally fair in the remaining Regions and States.

STATE OF THE SEA:  Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon - Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Seas will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of decreases of night temperature in Upper Sagaing, Kachin, Shan and Chin States.
