SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy to cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayin State, rain have been widespread in Shan and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Naypitaw, Mandalay Region and Chin State, scattered in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Night temperatures were about January average temperatures in Taninthayi Region and Chin State, (7°C) to (8°C) above January average temperatures in (Northern and Southern) Shan and Kayah States, (5°C) to (6°C) above January average temperatures in Mandalay and Bago Regions, Eastern Shan, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States and (3°C) to (4°C) above January average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant night temperatures were (4°C) in Hakha and (8°C) in Pinlaung. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Namsam (2.32) inches, Taunggyi (2.20) inches, Kengtung (1.53)inches, Loilin (1.38)inches, Tatkon (1.22)inches and Minesat (1.10)inches.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal still persists. It is forecast to further intensify into a depression during next (24)hrs. Weather is generally fair over the North Bay and West Central Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 5th January, 2017: Rain will be widespread in Shan and Kayah States, scattered in Naypyitaw and Mandalay Region and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is (80%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon - Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Seas will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of widespread in Taninthayi Region, isolated in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States.
