22-12-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Westcentral Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move West-Southwestwards and reach to Southwest Bay of Bengal(North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coasts)India during 24-12-2024. Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal partly and a few cloud to partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Naypyitaw, Kachin, Chin and Kayah States, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Taninthayi Region and Southern Shan State, scattered in Mandalay and Yangon Regions, Eastern Shan and Mon States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Myeik (2.76)inches, Longlone (2.72)inches, Hainggyi Kyun (2.13)inches, Taunggu (1.69)inches, Dawei (1.26)inches, Taunggyi  (1.22)inches and  Chaungsone (0.91)inch.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (10:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over East Central Bay and adjoining over Southeast Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression. It is centered at about (290)miles West-Southwest of Coco-Island (Myanmar). (410) miles Southwest of  Pathein (Myanmar), (490) miles Southwest of Yangon(Myanmar) and (270) miles West- Northwest of Portblair(India). It would move initially East-Northeast wards and it is forecast to further intiensify during next (24)hrs.Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 22th October, 2016: Weather is partly cloudy in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin and Northern Shan States. Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States, fairly widespread in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, scattered in Rakhine State and isolated in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavy falls in Taninthayi Region and Mon State. Degree of certainty is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (35) m.p.h. Seas will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin and Mon States.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 22th October, 2016: Likelihood of isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is (60%).

FORECAST FOR YANGON AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 22th October, 2016: One or two rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is (80%).

FORECAST FOR MANDALAY AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 22th October, 2016: Likelihood of isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is (60%).

WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR WEEKEND: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region and widespread in Yangon Region.
