SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, Southwest monsoon has been withdrawn from the North Bay of Bengal and Central Myanmar areas. Weather has been partly cloudy in Upper Sagaing Region and (Northern and Eastern)Shan States, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing Region and Southern Shan State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Kachin, Chin and Rakhine States, fairly widespread in Mandalay and Bago Regions, Kayah and Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Mandalay Region. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Meikhtila (2.13)inches, Labutta and Hpa-an (2.08)inches each, Tada U (Airport) (2.01)inches, Singaing (1.96)inches, Maubin (1.42) inches, Mahlaing (1.20)inches, Ngathaichaung (1.18)inches and Paung (1.10)inches.

BAY INFERENCE:  Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay and monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 24th September, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Shan and Kayah States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Kachin and Rakhine States, fairly widespread in Bago and Yangon Regions, Chin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Taninthayi Region. Degree of certainty is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Seas will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 24th September, 2016: Isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is (100%).
