01-12-2024: According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL” over the Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved West-Southwestwards and crossed North Tamil Nadu coast near Puducherry(India) and downgraded into a Deep depression. It is likely to move continuously West-Southwestwards and crossing the interior of Tamil Nadu(India). The centre pressure of Cyclonic Storm is 994 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 50 miles per hour. Weather is cloudy over the Westcentral Bay and Southwest Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Eastern Shan State,  rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing, Magway and Yangon Regions, Kachin and Northern Shan States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions, Southern Shan, Chin, Rakhine and Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Kayin State and isolated heavy falls in Ayeyarwady Region. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Paing Kyone (3.31)inches, Hpa-an (3.27)inches, Labutta (3.19)inches, Kawkayeit (1.81)inches and Hlaingbwe (1.69) inches.

BAY INFERENCE:  Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weak elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 15th September, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Lower Sagaing Region, (Northern and Eastern)Shan State, scattered in Upper Sagaing, and Magway Regions, Kachin and Rakhine States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Southern Shan, Chin and Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Magway and Bago Regions, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30) to (35)m.p.h. Seas will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Bago Region, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States.
