30-11-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL” over the Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved Westwards. It is centered at about 765 Nautical miles West of Coco Island (Myanmar), 45 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Chennai and 40 Nautical miles East-Northeast of Puducherry (India). The centre pressure of Cyclonic Storm is 994 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 50 miles per hour. Weather is cloudy over the Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Shan State, scattered in Upper Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing, Magway, Bago and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Chin and Rakhine States and  widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Ayeyarwady Region and Mon State, isolated heavy falls in Yangon Region. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Hainggyi Kyun (5.43)inches, Belin (4.37)inches, Khayan (4.13)inches, Labutta (4.02) inches, Chaungsone (3.54) inches,  Phyarpon (3.07)inches and Theinzayet (3.03)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is weak to moderate in the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weather is partly cloudy to cloudy elsewhere in the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 7th October, 2015: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, Shan and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Nay Pyi Taw, Magway and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin and Chin  States, widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough sea are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30 - 35) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of increase of rain in Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine and Mon States.
