24-11-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the well marked low pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean still persists. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may further intensify into a depression over South Bay of Bengal around 25-11-2024. Thereafter, it is likely continue to move Northwestwards and may reach to Tamil Nadu (India)-Sri Lanka coasts during next 2 days. Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea, South Bay and Westcentral Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Weather Forecast for 2019 Early Monsoon Season

Early Monsoon Period

          The early monsoon period is establishment of Southwest Monsoon over Myanmar to the end of June.

Onset of Southwest Monsoon

          Southwest monsoon is likely to set in:

  1. Southern Myanmar  Areas during (18-23) of May
  2. Deltaic Areas during (24-28) of May
  3. Central Myanmar Areas during (29 ) of May to (28 ) of  June
  4. Northern Myanmar Areas during (4 - 8 of  June)

Bay of Bengal Condition

Three Low Pressure Areas may form over the Bay of Bengal and one may further  intensify into  the Depressions. During the early monsoon period, monsoon will be moderate.

Rain Condition

Rain or Thundershower will be expected below normal rain in  Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine and Kayin States  and about  normal rain in Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway and  Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Kayah and Mon States.
