2-12-2025: According to the observations at 05:30 hrs MST today, the Deep Depression over the Westcentral Bay and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal, North Tamil Nadu- Puducherry coasts and South Andhra Pradesh coasts is centered at about 750 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Coco Island(Myanmar), 80 Nautical miles Northeast of Puducherry (India) and 20 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Chennai(India). It is likely to recurve slowly Southwestwards and weaken gradually into a Depression during next 12 hrs.Weather is generally fair over the Andaman Sea, cloudy over the Northwest Bay and Westcentral Bay and a few cloud to partly cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Severe Cyclonic Storm

            According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm (Gaja) over Southwest Bay has moved West-Southwestwards and it has intensified into a Severe Cyclonic Storm  (Gaja). It is centered at about (170)miles East of Chennai(India) and about (165)miles East-Northeast of  Nagapattinam(India).

It is not moving towards Myanmar Coasts, the present stage of the Cyclonic Storm is coded yellow stage.

            Severe Cyclonic Storm is located at Latitude (11.3) degree North and Longitude (82.6) degree East, centre pressure of Severe Cyclonic Storm is (995)hPa and maximum wind speed near the centre is (55-60) miles per hour at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today.

During next (12)hrs Forecast

            It is expected to move West-Southwestwards and cross Tamil Nadu Coast between Pamban and Cuddalore during next (12)hours.

General caution

                Due to the Severe Cyclonic Storm, rain or thundershowers will be isolated to scattered in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States within next (24) hours commencing today afternoon.

Squalls with rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (8 - 10) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

            People should be awared trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
