8-9-2024:: According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over the Northwest and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move nearly Northwards and may further intensify into a Depression over the Northwest Bay of Bengal (off North Odisha- Gangetic West Bengal Coast, India) during next 24 hours.Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: Weather has been partly cloudy in Chin State, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Mandalay and Magway Regions, scattered in  Sagaing Region and Rakhine State, faily widespread in Bago Region, Shan and Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regional heavy falls in Taninthayi Region Kayin and Mon States. Day temperatures were (5°C) above May average temperature in Chin State, (5°C) to (6°C) below May average temperatures in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayin State, (3°C) to (4°C) below May average temperature in Taninthayi Region, Eastern Shan and Mon States and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were (39°C) each in Gangaw and Pauk. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Paung (5.04) inches, Mudon (4.37) inches, Kawkayeit (3.70) inches, Myeik (3.66) inches, Hpa-an (3.47) inches, Kyeikkhame (3.23) inches, Theinzayet and Dawei (3.03) inches each, Kyeikmayaw (2.85) inches, Kyaukpyu and Tada U (2.67) inches each and Kengtung (2.59) inches.  

BAY INFERENCE:  Monsoon is strong to vigorous in the Andaman Sea, South Bay and East Central Bay and weather is partly cloudy to cloudy elsewhere in the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 24th May, 2015: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions and Chin State, scattered in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin and Shan States, fairly widespread in Bago Region, Rakhine and Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regional heavy falls in Mon State and isolated heavy falls in Bago, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Rakhine and Kayin States. Degree of certainty is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough sea are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h to (40) m.p.h.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS:  Continuation of increase of rain in the Southern Myanmar areas.
