SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Magway Region and (Northern and Eastern)Shan State, scattered in Sagaing Region, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Bago Regions and Kachin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Yangon Region. Day temperatures were 7°C above May average temperature in Kachin State, 5°C to 6°C above May average temperatures in Upper Sagaing Region and Chin State, 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing Region and Rakhine, Kayin States and 2°C above May average temperatures in Mandalay, Magway, Bago Regions and Northern Shan, Kayah, Mon States and about May average temperature in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were observed 42.2°C in Chauk, 42.0°C in Homalin, 41.8°C in Tamu, 41.6°C in Hkamti, 40.8°C each in Bhamo and Monyin, 40.6°C each in Myitkyina and Mynimu and 40.2°C each in Mogaung and Mandalay on 23-5-2024. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 3.58 inches in Khayan, 2.64 inches in Ann, 2.60 inches in Yangon(Bohtataung), 2.56 inches in Shan-Ywar-Thit, 2.48 inches in Dawei, 2.20 inches in Yangon(Mingaladon), 2.13 inches in Myeik, 2.01 inches in Yangon(Mayangone), 1.97 inches in Einme and 1.65 inches in Ngathaichaung.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, a depression over Central Bay of Bengal has moved Northeastwards and it is centered at about (280) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Coco Island, (330) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Hainggyigyun, (370) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Gwa, (375) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Thandwe (Myanmar), (400) Nautical miles South-Southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh) and (410) Nautical miles South of Canning (West Bangal, India). Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay. Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay and cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 25th May 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Sagaing Region, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kachin, (Northern)Shan, Chin, Rakhine States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Mon State and isolated heavyfalls in Bago Region and Rakhine, Kayin States. THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Occasionally squalls with rough seas will be experienced in off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 40-45 m.p.h. Wave height will be about 9-13 feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of regionally and isolated heavyfalls in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Chin, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States.
