SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, Southwest monsoon has advanced into the Southern Myanmar areas, Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal. Rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Upper Sagaing and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Eastern Shan and Chin States, fairly widespread in (Northern and Southern) Shan and Rakhine States, scattered in Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures were (3°C) to (4°C) above May average temperatures in Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayin and Mon States, (2°C) above May average temperature in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Taninthayi  Regions, Kachin, Southern Shan, Chin and Rakhine States and  about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were (43°C) in Chauk and (41°C) each in Myingyan and Nyaung Oo. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were Kawkareik and Kawthaung (2.48)inches each, Pyinoolwin (1.85)inches, Hkamti (1.53)inches, Hainggyigyun and Myeik (1.37)inches each, Khayan (1.18) inches, Launglon and Mongyang (1.10)inches each, Chaungsone (1.02)inches, Maungdaw (0.98)inch, Tamu and Dawei (0.83)inch each and Bhamo (0.79)inch.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, a low pressure area has formed over the Southwest Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is weak over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal. Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 26th MAY, 2018: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Upper Sagaing and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Eastern Shan and Chin States, fairly widespread in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, (Northern and Southern) Shan, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region and Kayah State and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Seas will be moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (4- 7) feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Thundery activities in the Deltaic areas.

FORECAST FOR MANDALAY AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 26th MAY, 2018: Likelihood of isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is (60%).                                      

WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR WEEKEND: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Naypyitaw and Mandalay Region, fairly widespread in Yangon Region.
