18-12-2024: According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southwest Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move Northwestwards and reach to North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coasts, India during next 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move nearly Northwards and move along Andhra Pradesh Coast during 48 hours. Weather is a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Northern Shan, Kayah States, scattered in Kachin, Eastern Shan, Rakhine States, fairly widespread in Kayin, Mon States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Magway Region and isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 4.88 inches in Myingyan, 2.56 inches in Madauk, 2.48 inches in Htilin, 2.40 inches each in Pakokku and Hlegu, 2.20 inches in Taungdwingyi, 2.05 inches in Sinbyugyun, 1.93 inches in Paung, 1.85 inches in Hainggyigyun and 1.72 inches in Taungtha.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “DANA” over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal has moved Northwestwards. It is centered at about 275 Nautical miles West-Northwest of Hainggyigyun(Myanmar), 320 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Sagar Island West Bengal (India). Weather is cloudy over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 24th October 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Eastern Shan, Kayah States, fairly widespread in Kachin, (Northern and Southern) Shan, Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Magway Region and isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Chin, Rakhine States. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Mandalay, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Frequently squalls with rough to very rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 50-55 m.p.h. Wave height will be about 11-15 feet o in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Occassional squalls with rough seas will be experienced in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 40 mph. Wave height will be about 9-11 feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Fairly widespread to widespread rain or thundershowers in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States.
