SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region and Chin State. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Mandalay Region and Kachin, Northern Shan, Kayah States, scattered in Naypyitaw, (Southern and Eastern)Shan State, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing, Magway Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region and Kachin, Mon States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 6.66 inches in Bhamo, 3.74 inches in Chaungsone, 3.34 inches in Dawei, 3.14 inches in Theinzayet, 2.95 inches in Waw, 2.56 inches in Zigon, 2.14 Inches in Paung De, 1.81 inches in Bago, 1.65 inches in Ye, 1.54 inches in Payathonsu and 1.50 inches in Kawthaung.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate to strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
SPECIAL FEATURES: According to the observations at (12:30)hrs MST today, the Low Pressure Cell over the Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea still persists. It is likely to move Westwards and may intensify into a Low Pressure Area over the Central Bay of Bengal around 23-9-2024.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 23rd September 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Sagaing Region and Kachin, Northern Shan, Chin States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Eastern Shan, Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 100%.
THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and (Southern and Eastern)Shan, Rakhine, Kayin States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 m.p.h. Wave height will be about 8-10 feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Increase of rain in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States.
