19-12-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southwest Bay of Bengal now lies over Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move Northwestwards and reach to North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coasts, India during next 12 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move nearly Northwards and move along Andhra Pradesh Coast during 36 hours. Weather is a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in (Northern and Eastern) Shan, Kayah States. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Upper Sagaing, Magway Regions and Chin State, scattered in Naypyitaw, fairly widespread in Mandalay Region and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 5.08 inches in Hainggyigyun, 4.09 inches in Dawei, 3.50 inches in Hpa-an, 3.18 inches in Ye, 2.68 inches in Myitkyina, 2.20 inches in Thaton, 2.17 inches in Paung, 2.00 inches in Bogale and 1.97 inches in Chaungsone.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the depression over Westcentral Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal (off North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha, India) moved Northwestwards and it is centered at about 580 Nautical miles West-Northwest of Hainggyigyun, 570 Nautical miles West  of  Thandwe (Myanmar), 65 Nautical miles East of Vishakhapatnam, 95 Nautical miles South-Southwest of Gopalpur and 40 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Kalingapatnam (India). Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 1st September 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Magway Region and Kayah State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region and (Northern and Eastern), Chin States, fairly widespread in Sagaing Region and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin State. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, (Northern and Eastern) Shan, Rakhine States.

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph. Wave height will be about 8-10 feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 6-8 feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS:  Likelihood of increase of rain in Taninthayi Region.
