8-9-2024:: According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over the Northwest and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move nearly Northwards and may further intensify into a Depression over the Northwest Bay of Bengal (off North Odisha- Gangetic West Bengal Coast, India) during next 24 hours.Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayah State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region, fairly widespread in Magway Region and Northern Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Yangon Region and Kayin State and isolated heavyfalls in Bago Region and Kachin, Rakhine, Mon States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 5.98 inches in Putao, 5.39 inches in Kyaukpyu, 4.06 inches in Khayan, 3.91 inches in Kamamaung, 3.78 inches in Nyaunglaybin, 3.74 inches in Shan-Ywar-Thit, 3.40 inches in Shwegwin, 3.31 inches in Belin, 3.27 inches in Hlegu and 2.95 inches in Danubyu.

BAY INFERENCE:  Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 22nd July 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayah State, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Magway Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Rakhine State and isolated heavyfalls in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Naypyitaw, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Regions and Kachin, Shan, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States.

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 40 mph. Wave height will be about 10-13 feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph.  Wave height will be about 7-9 feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Increase of rain in Naypyitaw, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States.
