30-11-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL” over the Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved Westwards. It is centered at about 765 Nautical miles West of Coco Island (Myanmar), 45 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Chennai and 40 Nautical miles East-Northeast of Puducherry (India). The centre pressure of Cyclonic Storm is 994 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 50 miles per hour. Weather is cloudy over the Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Kayah State, scattered in Naypyitaw and Kachin State, fairly widespread in Magway Region and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Lower Sagaing Region and isolated heavyfalls in Mandalay, Taninthayi Regions. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 4.84 inches in Dawei, 2.75 inches in Kalewa, 2.68 inches in Kawthaung, 2.63 inches in Kyaukse(Lunkyaw), 2.48 inches each in Hpa-an and Paung, 2.44 inches each in Coco Island and Myeik, 2.24 inches in Bhamo, 2.17 inches in Mudon, 1.97 inches in Thaton and 1.94 inches in Mawlamyine.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 27th June 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Naypyitaw, Magway Region and Kayah State, fairly widespread in Kachin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Sagaing, Mandalay Regions and Rakhine, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Shan, Chin, Kayah States.

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35-40 mph. Wave height will be about 8-10 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS:  Likelihood of increase of rain in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin, Chin, Rakhine States.
