26-12-2024:According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southwest Bay of Bengal(off South Andhra Pradesh-North Tamil Nadu Coasts, India) still persists. It is likely to weaken gradually into a Low Pressure Area during next 24 hours. Weather is partly cloudy over the Westcentral and Southwest Bay of Bengal and a few cloud over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, Southwest monsoon has advanced into the Central Myanmar areas and Northeast Bay of Bengal. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Taninthayi Region, fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing Region and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady Region. Day temperatures were 4°C above May average temperature in Taninthayi Region, 2°C above May average temperature in Kayin State and 2°C below May average temperatures in Northern Shan, Kayah States, 3°C to 4°C below May average temperatures in Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and (Southern and Eastern)Shan, Chin, Rakhine States, 5°C to 6°C below May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Magway Region and about May average temperatures in Kachin, Mon States. The significant day temperatures were observed 37.2°C in Myeik, 36.4°C in Zaung Tu, 35.5°C in Mandalay, 34.5°C each in Mudon and Kawthaung, 34.3°C in Myawaddy, 34.2°C each in Kyaukse(Lunkyaw) and Mawlamyine, 34.0°C in Dawei and 33.8°C each in Putao and Hpa-an on 26-5-2024. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 3.55 inches in Phyarpon, 2.91 inches in Hlegu, 2.80 inches in Kyeidon, 2.71 inches each in Sittwe and Yangon(Mayangone), 2.64 inches in Bago, 2.52 inches in Ngapudaw, 2.44 inches each in Ann and Okkan, 2.40 inches in Thandwe, 2.32 inches each in Manaung, Coco Island.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “REMAL” which has crossed to Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts between Sagar Island (India) and Khepupara, close to Mongla (Bangladesh) has moved North-Northeastwards and crossing the interior of Bangladesh. Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal and strong to vigorous over the Eastcentral and Northeast Bay of Bengal. Weather is cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 28th May 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Taninthayi Region, fairly widespread in Eastern Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Chin, Rakhine States and isolated heavyfalls in Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin State. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Mon States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 40 mph. Squalls with rough seas are likely at times in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40) mph.  Wave height will be about (9-13) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts and (8-10) feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon States.
