SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Southern Shan and Chin States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw and Eastern Shan State, scattered in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin State and isolated in Magway, Bago, Taninthayi Regions and Kayah, Kayin States. Weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures were 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon States and 2°C above May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, (Northern and Southern) Shan, Rakhine, Kayah States and 2°C below May average temperatures in Eastern Shan State and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were observed 42.2°C in Aunglan, 42.0°C in Pyay, 41.5°C in Taungdwingyi,  41.4°C each in Chauk and Myawaddy, 41.3°C in Laydatpyin,  41.2°C each in Tharrawady and Hinthada, 41.0°C in Nyaunglaybin and 40.9°C in Khayan on 8-5-2024. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 1.30 inches in Hinthada, 0.79 inch in Thayet, 0.63 inch in Aunglan, 0.55 inch in Hakha, 0.51 inch in Tiddim, 0.24 inch in Yamethin, 0.16 inch in Phyu and 0.12 inch each in Falam and Naypyitaw(Otarathiri).

BAY INFERENCE: Weather is a few cloud over the East central Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 10th May 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Kachin, (Southern and Eastern) Shan and Chin States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago, Taninthayi Regions and Northern Shan State and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is 80%. 

THE CONDITION OFCUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon, Taninthayi Region and Kachin, Southern Shan, Kayin States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5-7 feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of isolated to scattered rain or thundershowers in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 10th May 2024:Isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is 80%.

FORECAST FOR YANGON AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 10th May 2024:  Likelihood of isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is 60%.

FORECAST FOR MANDALAY AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 10th May 2024:    Isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is 80%.
